The next little incident I consider rather interesting, because the person for whom the “spirit” made himself visible to me put test questions to him, and got absolutely correct answers, and this in the presence of five people.
On April 10, 1906, we were sitting in a room lighted by a 16-candle power electric lamp, when I saw a spirit-form come in through the locked door. I said—
“ A ‘spirit’ has just come in, I will describe him,”
I did so, giving full particulars as to figure and face, and added—
“ He is a soldier who died in India, and he is dressed in the uniform of a Scotch regi- ment.”
My friend asked me if I could say which regiment. Now as I am quite ignorant of uniforms and tartans, I said—
“T don’t know, but I'll give you a description of his kilt.”
This I did, and my friend said—
“Quite right, he was in the Gordon High- landers. I recognize him.”
As a test he asked the Highlander the following questions, and received the following correct answers—
