When you understand the implications of excessive personal identifications with worldly things and rid yourself of all the useless dreams you give your energy to, you start to learn to individualise your own consciousness and gain more power over what kind of reality or what kind of 'dream of life' you want to consciously create; that's right, I'm not saying that dreaming is an inherently bad thing, it is a creative gift from nature, the main issue is that we don't understand how to use this gift. We use it unconsciously and destructively; just look at the state of humanity and its obsession with negative thinking. Thus, this is also one of the first steps to everything spoken about in this book; realising that you are always dreaming, even when 'awake'.
