Note to Table 24 1. Where the bottom wall plate or sole plate of an exterior wall is not nailed to joists or blocking, the exterior wall is permitted to be fastened to the floor framing by plywood, OSB, or waferboard sheathing that extends down over the floor framing and is fastened to that framing by nails or staples. The wall can also be fastened by tying the wall framing to the floor framing with galvanized strips that are 50 mm (2 in.) wide, 0.41 mm (0.016 in.) in thickness or more, spaced not more than 1.2 m (48 in.) apart and fastened at each end with at least two 63 mm (21⁄2 in.) nails.
