One night while lying in bed, I was in for a shocking surprise; I
had my first out of body experience. For the first time in my life, I
had indeed found something which did not disappoint or leave me
with a sense of dissatisfaction or more looming questions. I had
peeked through the veil of physical illusion and perception, which
usually grips our consciousness to the material world so firmly. It
was pure joy, and I was in a glow of awe for many days.
Lucid dreaming, meditation, and astral projection all have
distinctive layers of awakening and profundities, both while
having out of body experiences and also after waking up. After
coming out of my body for the first time, I had spontaneous and
powerful occasions where I would be weeping in waking life from
existential realisations of joy and enlightenment. My depression
was being healed.
My First Out-of-Body Experience

One night, I found myself waking up in the middle of my
sleep. However, instead of waking up regularly, I stayed still
and immediately began spontaneously feeling trembling
vibrations all over my body, like an earthquake; I started to see
colours swirling in my vision through my closed eyelids. I heard
noises, like a mix of a hurricane and white noise. All of these
extrasensory phenomena became so intense that I eventually
began to have the feeling that I could ‘lean into them’ and
separate from my physical body, and thus I floated upwards. It
was a slow and intense separation. As I gradually detached, I
saw my physical body fast asleep beneath me. This new type of
ghost-like body, which I had never experienced before, felt
acutely energetic; as if I was on the constant descent of a
rollercoaster whilst having continual electrical goosebumps. I
felt blisteringly alive, but at the same time, heavy and more real
