FUNCTIONING IN “MENTAL BODY." 213
The following document (No. 3) needs but few remarks from me. The date shows it to be my first attempt at “control” after a year’s rest. It took place at a different house, and I do not know who was the medium that “1” used ; certainly it was not the Mr. Gartside of documents Nos. 1 and 2, nor the Mr. Blake of the next series. Probably “1” moved the table directly with energy drawn from my own body and from the sitters’ bodies. Be this as it may, no one at any of the three séances (the reader will note that the document concerns thyee separate séances) was conscious of being
used by “I.”
(Document No. 3.)
We, the undersigned, testify to the following facts, some of us for one, two, or all of the dates given.
We attended a séance at a house at least two miles from Mr. Turvey’s home on April 4, 11, and 18, 1907, and the table spelt out, on the first occasion, “T U R V”; on the next, “VINCENT NEWTON TURVEY,” the mid- dle name being evidently unknown to any one, judging by the general remarks. And on the last occasion the table spelt “TURVEY,” and answered correctly one or two test questions.
