that it (the “astral’’ body) did not function in any way. For my own part, I think that this body is an inferior body altogether to the mental body.
Although the writer of letter No. 64 was not a clairvoyant, she was “passive” at the time of the visitation; and since the body referred to is slightly more solid, so to speak, than the “1” (mental body), it is much easier to “see” it. The mental body is rarely seen, even by clairvoyants ; but I publish one letter, No. 65, in which the reader will see that “I” was visible.
The astral body referred to in letters Nos. 64 and 66 must not be confused with the “double,” which is an odjectively visible body, such as was that which was used by Sir Carne Rasch on the occasion when he was seen in the House of Commons at the time when his physical body was lying ill in bed.
Briefly, then, we may say that all the docu- ments and letters in this chapter concern the mental body (“1”), which /w#sedzons, but is rarely visiide; and letters Nos. 64 and 66 concern a non-functioning etheric body which is, unlike the “I,” xo¢ projected where and when I like, but which wanders off on its own account, unknown to “ Me.”
