although, perhaps, it would be possible for “1” to “‘materialize,” under proper conditions, never- theless, “I” has not yet attempted to do so,
I must also remark that, wherever it has been stated that “I saw a spirit,” it has been taken for granted that the reader would under- stand that the “spirit” was not objectively visible, as is a chair, a table, or a ghost; but that the “spirit form” was seen with the izner vision.
There is no need for me to discuss the many bodies that belong to man, for this little book is only concerned with two of these in addition to the physical body. In order to be concise, the editor proposes to deal first with a “ body” which he has actually used, which is not the ‘T” which he calls the ‘mental body.” Some people use the word “astral body” as applicable to the two cases that follow; and although the editor considers the word “ astral ” to be objectionable, for this “body” is not a starry body, yet he adopts it because the term is in pretty general use among Western occultists.
The “astral” body, which is referred to in the letters numbered 64 and 66, went of its own accord when “ Me” was asleep. “Me” knew nothing of the visitation, and it appears
