CHAPTER. Nil. FUNCTIONING IN THE “MENTAL BODY.” Tuts species of Clairvoyance was at one time called “ Spirit-body-travelling”; since, how- ever, the phrase ‘ Mental-body-travelling ” has lately come into use among occultists, I shall use the newer form of expression, for I think that it is preferable to the old one. The editor feels that he must again apologize for the number of times he has made use of the pronouns of the first person in this book, and also for the “ Dear Mr. Turvey,” etc., of the letters. The pronouns are unavoidable, or almost so ; and as the letters are certified copies, their head- ings must appear. Had they been addressed “Dear sir,” some very brilliant critic would be sure to say, as one already has done: “This is no evidence—wo is ‘ Dear sir’; have you got the envelope?” The editor therefore pleads “ guilty,” and under the “ first offence” act asks for a “light sentence” from the reader.
