chain, football medal, and silver matchbox that were “seen” on a person who was #of wearing them af the time, but who habitually wears them. And further than this, a young lady was seen to be with the gentleman at the other end of the telephone, although she was miles away from him, as was his silver chain, etc., at the time. I do not intend to attempt to explain this peculiar form of phenomena, but | feel that I must point out one strange thing about it. In this seeing of things that are xof there, but were “ habitually worn,” there seems to be a great similarity to the seeing of old clothing on the “spirits” of the dead.
In this case Mr. Oaten could not have been wearing his silver chain, as it was actually in Bristol at the time that I “saw” it on him in Bournemouth. A “spirit” has also been seen “wearing a long gold chain” after the actual chain had been “‘divided into three parts and each of us three girls had a part given to us.”* I say, therefore, that if a man, still in the body, can be seen to be wearing that which is not actually in his possession, then this goes a long way to prove that men out of the body can be seen wearing articles of clothing not actually in their possession.
