The following letter is so self-explanatory that it needs no comment from me, beyond mentioning the fact that I had heard of Mr. Lobb, but had not seen him.

Bournemouth, Oct. 28, 1906, DEAR Mr. TURVEY,
I was this morning sitting in a mutual friend’s house. He rang you up on the telephone and you replied (showing you were at home, I understand, a mile away).
After a little conversation, he told you I was in the room, and you then said you could “see a spirit friend” with me. You gave him a description of the spirit and he repeated it to me. I recognized it distinctly. This, I think, puts the so-called “explanation,” thought read- ing, entirely on one side as not covering all the facts.

The next incident is very peculiar in more ways than one. I must just remind the reader of the “brownish badge” that was not there at the time but was “sometimes worn” (the case of Mr, Pontifex, letter No. 41).
