and as their signing the Voucher in no way implies their belief in “spirits,” I do hope that even the anonymous letter-writer will leave them alone, and, if he must write abuse, will write to me only.
Those among my readers who, for scientific or other sufficient reasons, cannot accept even the Voucher, and must themselves see the original letters, are at perfect liberty to do so. Thanks to the courtesy and kindness of The Editor of Lzgh/, 110, St. Martin's Lane, London, W.C., Lam allowed to refer dona fide researchers to him. He holds all the original letters, and, upon appointment made, will be pleased to show them. I have decided to make a charge of one shilling for viewing the originals, and the proceeds will be handed to Dr. Barnardo's Home for Waifs and Strays.* This is done to save useless wear and tear of the letters at the hands of the merely idly curious.
I need hardly mention that I trust that any person who views the letters will not divulge more names or addresses than are already mentioned herein.
Some readers may possibly think I am too sensitive over the “abusive letter” question.
* Or some other equally deserving charitable institution.
