THE THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY
was formed at New York, November 17th, 1875, and incorporated at Madras, April 3rd, 1905. It is an unsectarian body of seekers after Truth, striving to .serve humanity on spiritual lines, and therefore endeavouring to check materialism and revive religious tendency. Its three declared objects are :
First.—T o form a nucleus of the Universal Brotherhood of Humanity, without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste, or colour.
Second.—T o encourage the study of comparative religion, philosophy, and science. Third. —To investigate the unexplained laws of nature and the powers latent in man.
