The reason is as follows: On February 9, 1908, I gave the lady a description that she did not recognize; and, as is my usual custom, told her to remember it and try and see if she could recognize it later on. The following letter gives the result, and at the same time shows why she remembered the description of the Naval lieutenant, z. ( in case her friends might know him).
(No. 22.) Bournemouth, Feb. 22, 1908. DEAR SIR,
At the Spiritualist Meeting in the Avenue on February 9, you described a young man who passed over some years ago. You said, " He was in the Army and had been abroad, and his name was a short name like Rob or Tom." I could not remember him at all, but later recollected that an uncle died in the Soudan War. His name I could not remember, as when I saw him I was only five years of age.
On the roth I wrote to an aunt of mine who lives in London, and gave her the description you had given me.
Yesterday (21st) I received her answer, which I have copied from the letter.
